Jimmy Harris is a true New Orleans native son. Born and raised in New Orleans East, he was raised to believe in justice, equality, respect, and service. He is a graduate of St. Augustine High School, Morehouse College of Atlanta (B.A. in Psychology), and Southern University Law Center (Juris Doctorate).
Jimmy has worked as a Clerk at the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and a Legislative Advisor for then, District 101 State Representative Cedric Richmond. He also served as State Relations Coordinator for the City of New Orleans, where his responsibilities included assisting the Mayor in passing legislation and managing intergovernmental relations with numerous other jurisdictions. For the past four years, Jimmy has served as Director of Special Projects for the 2nd Congressional District, led by the Honorable Congressman Cedric Richmond.
Jimmy is rooted in efforts to revitalize the city he loves. Following the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, he fought to preserve the voting rights of displaced New Orleans residents. As a member of Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, he understands the importance of giving back to the community. He worked on committees to provide food, clothing, and gifts to our most vulnerable members of the 99th District. He will continue to serve and fight for the City and community he loves. District 99 deserves a proven leader committed to rejuvenating our neighborhoods. Jimmy is an outstanding attorney, advocate, and legislative force. He will make an even greater District 99 Representative. He believes it is our time and he is prepared to serve!
